Kung Fu system and kung fu experience increases, part 1

[Intro]

Kung Fu is the broad title given to skill in 9Dragons. Kung Fu can be divided into 2 broad categories: Vagabond Kung Fu, which can be learned regardless of what Clan you're in, but is quite weak, and Clan Kung Fu, which can only be learned once you join a Clan, and is much stronger.

[Kung Fu Fighting]

Using skills in 9 Dragons Awaken is quite simple. Press C/ Kung Fu and you will see the skills of your character.

You can put them in your quick kung fu bar for faster use :

To use your skills you need to be in combat mode, but some skills like meditation, steps and lightfoot can be uses in peace mode.

You can change stances by either clicking on the spearhead on the skillbar or by hitting the Tab key.

[Peace Mode]
You must be in peace mode in order to do anything that is not considered combat. This includes reading a tome or manual, consuming an elixir, or opening a stand to sell items. When you are in peace mode, you will recover HP and VE. Also, you cannot use and Kung Fu, except for Lightfoot when in peace mode. It takes less time to open a chest when you are in peace mode, making dungeons slightly easier. When a player revives or enters/exits a dungeon, they will automatically be switched to peace mode.

[Combat mode]
Players spend most of their time in combat mode. This is the stance required for using Kung Fu, so players will be using this stance whenever they are grinding. The only times a player will leave combat mode are when they want to perform an action where they need to be in peace mode.

[Rage]
Rage is a state in which a player can deal much more damage than usual, but at the cost of defense.

One gains Rage whenever a monster scores a Critical Hit and inflicts wounds against him. The amount of rage a character has can be seen as yellow in the bar above the experience bar. When a player's rage reaches 100%, he enters rage mode automatically. The amount of Rage that player has will begin to rapidly decrease until it reaches 0.00%, at which point Rage mode will end.

[Berserk Mode]
When a player is in rage mode, they can choose to activate Berserk Mode, which allows the player to deal massive amounts of damage, but at the same time, greatly reduces his defense. When in Berserk Mode, the player is surrounded by a glow, and his Rage decreases much more rapidly.

Berserk Mode can be activated by licking the experience reticule when in Rage Mode.

[Learning the Kung Fu]

You can learn the basic skills from Bamboo NPC and the clan skills from clan NPC for general and clan role NPC for role skills.

Learning process :

-You can purchase the skill from a Martial Arts Teacher (called a Sifu)  - from Bamboo NPC and other clans NPCs from Bamboo. This is limited to basic vagabond skills, and the Revealing Hand Maneuver.

At clan base you can find 3 training grounds :

The kung fu skills are divided in categories (for wu tang warrior) :

Clan Kung Fu

Vagabond Kung Fu

Mind Coordination (meditation) :

Lightfoot :

Cloud Swords :

Wind Swords :

Arts (arts of xuanxu)

Steps (steps of wu tang)

Than we have divisions :

All (all the skills are listed under all )

Basic (meditation and steps)

Active : all the active clan skills, for wu tang warrior are swords and all other active clans you can learn from other Bamboo NPCs

Smashing ( swords with higher damage)

Special (finisher and charged skills )

Support (the buffs)

Blast (support in face of monster/human type )

Misc (other category, for all clans)

Formation (refers formation skills used individual or party, wu tang warriors do not have these skills, but for e.g. healers do have it ).

Also, since 2007 we operate with the following names of the skills for
-Physical roles: Active, Smashes, Finisher, Charged and Passive
-Chi kung roles : Active, Smashes,Casting, Rounding and Passive

Skills are not only for decoration as I saw in many opinions, kung fu skills in pvp and pve means strategy and find the right moment to use it. Pvp is more about skills than pve. Let us see some examples.

Among wu tang warrior active swords we can find :

The first active sword has a great deal of damage and cause bleed, the second one has a lower damage but 50% chance to reduce the chi kung dodge for 6 seconds by 500 and the last one has 30% chance to reduce the movement speed for 6 seconds by 50%. I would use this swords or possible combinations depending on my adversary. For a nuker I would go after speed and than use the higher smash than finishing sword if he wants to run. Or start with finishing sword, smash and active skill.  You have to pay attention to the rotation of the active skills and combine them for better damage.

The damage of skill also have a value between [minim] and [maxim] and will be reflect with yellow and red for critics in pve and pvp.

Among smashes :

First smash inflicts damage to the target, but also has 50% chance to reduce the VE 2000 and we know that chi kung roles use VE. Second one has damage and chance for critical hit, so in combination with other in game things we have chance to increase the critical rate, than the 3rd besides damage has the option to increase the critical damage. The last one, besides damage has chance to reduce the phy/chi kung defense. So I would use this before my higher damage smash to get the defense down first.

Finisher or finishing skills can be used at the start or the end of an attack. You can take your adversary by surprise or if he runs away you can till target him from long distance.

Charged skills are used like finishing skills on long run attacks. The difference is that you have to hold it to release it. The longer the skill is held, the more damage it will do.

Passive skills refers to everything that stays passive and increase your stats like buffs, meditation or steps.

The blast skills can also activate the pvp status :

Weapons also have skills that can be used at fighting :
